New Jersey Poker Hits New Low

New Jersey online poker continues to struggle, and the numbers through the Halloween festivities, and the month of October were pretty frightening to say the least. Low numbers through holiday periods and national days of celebration rarely leave NJ poker with anything to cheer about as both Labor Day and Super Bowl Sunday have all seen numbers drop to dangerously low levels, however the day of Halloween saw New Jersey online poker player numbers drop to their lowest levels so far this year.

The real money cash game numbers do not make for pretty reading with the Borgata out in the lead averaging around 129 players, with WSOP on the 110 mark and 888 just about hanging on in there on 59, and with Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays coming round soon, then things may get worse before they get any better.

One of the big questions is whether or not the entry of PokerStars into the market will make any difference, however with such a small amount of players currently spread around the New Jersey rooms, there's many observers doubt that even the entry of the biggest name in the industry can give things the boost they so desperately need. Declining credit cards are of course still a huge issue, however should the rumours of Paypal entering the fray be correct then that could help more than the PokerStars entry.

If you're a poker player outside of the Garden State then there's plenty to get involved in this fall, and as those nights get longer, numbers on tables are not a problem at all. New players at Bovada get a huge 100% up to $1,000 welcome bonus and running right now is the awesome $15K Poker Bowl promotion that could see you on your way to Arizona to watch the big one. There's the $100K Guaranteed Tournament each Sunday and bags of real money Texas Hold'em action, as well as masses of great sit n go tourneys too.
