The Borgata Poker Open Serves up $6.5 Million in Guaranteed Tourneys

The September Borgata Poker Open has kicked off and maybe, just maybe, it could give a welcome boost to the cash strapped resort of Atlantic City. With casinos closing and revenue falling everywhere you look, the New Jersey gambling hub could sure do with a little help and $6.5 Million in guaranteed poker tournaments surely can’t do any harm. The closing of the Revel Casino this month, after less than 2 years of operations really does hit home just how much the town is suffering and as the amount of unemployed casino employees rise, the tax revenue goes further south.

Maybe the Borgata Poker Open this month will shine a little light on things and from the 2nd to the 19th of September at least one casino in town will be buzzing and with buy ins from $200 to $3,500 and 24 events taking place it’s hoped a good mix of poker players will be turning out. The big tournament will be the $3,500 buy in $3 Million Guaranteed Main Event in which there’s sure to be a star studded turnout and there’s also a ladies only tournament, a Seniors Memorial Event and a Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em $1 Million GTD too.

If you fancy a little land based tournament action but can’t make Atlantic City this month, then you could try your hand at qualifying for the Punta Cana Poker classic at Bovada Poker. The main event takes place in sunny Dominican Republic in November, promising not only a festival of poker but a little time in the Caribbean heat this winter. Bovada are running a huge amount of cheap satellites and qualifiers and have plenty of $5,500 Punta Cana packages up for grabs, and new players will also get a sweet welcome bonus of 100% up to $1,000.
