What is the Mid-States Poker Tour?

Quite simply, the Mid States Poker Tour is a series of land based poker tournaments that take place in the Midwest. Founded by Bryan Mileski the MSPT offers poker players of that area and beyond the chance to participate in deep stack Texas Hold’em tournaments that take place at the best venues offering amateur players the opportunity to participate in quality land based poker events at a price they can afford. The tournaments are structured so that the player doesn’t blind out and the deep stacks mean that a few early mistakes don’t send you packing too early.

In the past there have been some great stops made, at places like Black Hawk, Columbus, Battle Creek, Sioux Falls, Northwood, Gary and Baraboo and everyone who enters and makes a cash in any MSPT event also gets Player of the Year points. The Mid-States Poker Tour is now into season 5 proving beyond doubt that there is a need for this type of tournament series, to many it’s a localized version of the WSOP Circuit series and long may it continue. The prize pools are by no means small, with over $9 million awarded to players so far in prize money, and the upcoming event at Tama has a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool. To get in on the action visit their website and check out the full schedule, and remember that these events take place in casinos so you will need to be aged over 21.

If you don’t reside in that area and still want a little action then there are many online poker rooms that cater for the US player, with Bovada being the largest. You’ll get a great welcome bonus, plenty of promotions and a $100,000 guaranteed tournament to take part in each and every Sunday.
