WSOP Ink Sponsorship Deal with New York Rangers

Party Poker seemed to have started something of a trend when penning their deal with NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL's New Jersey Devils as now it's the turn of the WSOP to team up with a pro sports outfit and have inked their own sponsorship contract with the NHL's New York Rangers. This deal concerns the regulated World Series of Poker site in New Jersey and mainly involves a whole lot of cross promotion more than anything, however it's yet another sign that regulated online gaming and big sporting franchises can get together making things work for both of them.

WSOP New Jersey already have a few Rangers promotions on the site and you can get your hands on Rangers merchandise and enter a competition that will see a former player pop round to your house and pay you a visit. There's also tickets to games available and signed goodies too. Sports and poker are of course often linked together, with online giant PokerStars using many sports stars in their marketing efforts including Rafa Nadal, Boris Becker and more recently the Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo. The European market has over the years seen many such deals, most major European soccer teams have at some stage been sponsored by gaming companies, with Bwin at one stage having their names plastered on top teams in every major league and competition.
