PokerRoom.com Closes Doors Again

The Ongame skin PokerRoom.com appears to have closed its doors for the last time. Just one year after it re-opened it doors it seems it's all over, however players have nothing to worry about as their funds can be transferred over to its parent site Bwin.party. The news came as a bit of a shock as no prior warning was given and we believe players were not told of the decision, however there was an announcement on the website which read, " This is the final day that players can spend any player points in their accounts; after today, all points will be forfeited. Similarly, any bonuses that have not been earned after today will disappear. Tournament tickets, though, will be converted to cash and added to players' accounts." Players have the choice of cashing out or moving the funds to the parent site Party Poker, with until March 19th to do this.

Trail Blazing Poker Room.

Started in 1999 way before online poker hit the big time, PokerRoom.com became extremely popular with part of that down to its name. It was easily found by search engines and attracted thousands of players who were curious about online poker. By the mid 2000's it was one of the biggest rooms out there, attracting many big players. It was the first site to really use social media to its advantage and also introduced team poker where friends could get together and form leagues. It was the biggest name on the Ongame network at the time but the network didn't fair well after UIGEA and PokerRoom started to fade. It went from industry trailblazer to just about hanging on and first closed its doors in 2009 only to re-open in January 2012, albeit for a brief period of time.
