Lincoln Milne Wins WSOP Circuit Main Event in River Rock

The WSOP Circuit moved up to Vancouver last week and the River Rock Casino and Resort provided 6 days of great poker action with the main event getting a huge turnout of 875 players. With a $1,675 buy in this meant there was a very healthy prize pool and it was Lincoln Milne who took the lion's share of it winning $253,015, WSOP Circuit gold ring and of course a place in the National Championships in the spring. This was Milne's first ever ring and his first big cash and after the event he said, I'm still kind of taking it in to be honest, this is my biggest cash by far. This is my first year playing big tournaments, I've played for a long time but this was my first real breakthrough."

How it all Played Out at River Rock

There were more than a few familiar faces at River Rock with many professional players and circuit grinders making an appearance, with Calen McNeil, Shaun Buchanan, Kevin MacPhee and Ari Engel all in the mix in the main event. Milne managed to navigate the early stages successfully and eventually hit the final table with a very good stack of 60 times the big blind, and once there he continued to play a great game slicing his way through the field until only 3 players were remaining and play slowed down enormously. The three players remaining were Milne, Homan Mohammadi and Alex Toth and they played a staggering 91 hands until Milne sent Mohammadi to the rails with his pocket aces doing what was required. Milne led going into heads up play and never looked back, slowly grinding down Toth's stack until the final hand when he went all in with a pair of jacks. Toth couldn't match it and Milne was the winner who quickly gave thanks to 2 players who had helped him along the way, saying, "I'm fortunate enough to be friends with another ring winner, Mike Kim, him and another guy Joon Park, they basically mentored me. When I came to them, I had maybe some skill, but about a year and a half later I'm here shipping the event." Congratulations to Milne, and of course to the River Rock Casino who put on a great WSOP Circuit event.
