Jeff Fielder Wins WSOP Choctaw Main Event

Jeff Fielder Wins at Choctaw

The third largest event in the history of the WSOP Circuit's nine year run has seen Jeff Fielder win and take home $312,080. This week saw Fielder win his second WSOP Circuit gold ring and of course that important place in the WSOP National Championship. WSOP Circuit events don't come much bigger than this with 1140 players involved and a huge $1,710,000 prize pool. The victory for Fielder was made even sweeter with the fact that a few of his good friends have played in this event and done very well, in fact his pal Drazen Ilich finished in sixth place this time round. Fielder plans to celebrate his win in the Bahamas but had a long drive home back to Des Moines Iowa before that. This years Choctaw event beat last years main event which saw 978 players take to the tables and now there is only the Horseshoe Hammond that beats it in terms of turn out. The glory for Fielder however won't go to his head, he is a successful player there is no doubt about that but he says he prefers the guaranteed income from his regular job rather than making poker his everything. After his win he commented, "I'm prett content right now, I like what i do, it'd be pretty stressful to play full time. I like the guaranteed income that gives me the cushion to go to some of these stops." The whole event at Choctaw as usual was a massive success and as the Main Event played out, so did event #12, a tournament that had a big hold on the outcome of the Casino Champions race. Robinson was leading the race but not playing in the event and needed Hilton to finish outside of the top 4. Hilton played well but could only manage 7th place leaving Robinson to take the title with three places of 2nd, 4th and 13th. So that's it from Choctaw for the time being but as we are only half way through the season there will be plenty more winners and plenty more stories. The WSOP circuit will now move to Harrah's Tunica and the show rolls on!
