All Systems go for Online Gambling in Delaware

BetOnline

While most regulatory news in the US has focused on the New Jersey launch of online gaming, it is Delaware that is the very first state to bring a full suite of online games to their residents. Delaware's online casinos are now up and running and, as with New Jersey, they are tied in with the state's existing land-based casinos. Three online casinos are up and running in the state and each one of them is powered by 888 Holdings software and operated under the watchful eye of the Delaware State Lottery. There are also some forms of sports betting legal in the state; however, this has yet to come under regulation.

So we have lift off in Delaware and that's great for all concerned; however, with a population of less than 1 million people, will Delaware's online poker and casino games really take off, and if so, what damage may that do to the existing land-based casinos? Only time will tell, of course, and what Delaware officials will be hoping for is that interstate compacts can be made as soon as possible, quite possibly with other regulated states such as New Jersey and Nevada. One thing that cannot be taken away from Delaware, however, is that they were first to market with a full suite of online casino games, and that's one for the record books.

Recommended US Poker Sites

While Delaware's regulated market is small and pioneering, many US players turn to established offshore poker rooms for a superior experience.
