Dominik Nitsche Wins Third WSOP Gold Bracelet

The 23 year old German professional poker player Dominik Nitsche made a little bit of his very own poker history at the WSOP 2014 by becoming the youngest ever player to win 3 coveted WSOP bracelets. He did it by taking Event 21, the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em Tournament, beating a field of 216 players and claiming a first placed prize of $335,659 at the same time. Nitsche made the successful transition from online poker player to live tournament player and won his first ever big cash in 2009 by winning the LAPT $5,000 Main Event in Mar del Plata, with his first bracelet coming in 2012 in yet another $1,000 No Limit event. After the win he said that, "It's feels really good to win this one, of course, the first one feels really great, and so does the second one, and so does the third. They all feel good in different ways because this is the top prize on poker. This is what we play for."

The final table saw NItsche beat off some very strong competition with quality players like Bob Bounahra, Dave D'Alesandro and Jeff Gross all in the mixer and it was with six players remaining that Nitsche began climbing the field however the huge turning point in the event saw Nitsche doubling up with a lucky 10 clubs on the river to do some serious damage to D'Alesandro's stack. He eventually ground out the win to make a little history and is clearly aiming for much bigger things when saying, "I have been playing poker for seven years, at this rate, I really think I can catch Hellmuth. Of course, he and Phil Ivey are great players so to be talked in the same breath as them is really something for me. I will just say I am really proud to come to Las Vegas where I have enjoyed a lot of success over the years." He'll need a few more big wins on the board to catch up with those two greats, but he is most definitely heading in the right direction.
