PokerStars Micro Millions Pays Out Over $9.5 Million

To say that the PokerStars Micro Millions series was a success would be a bit of an understatement. The series saw a total of 99 tournaments played out with some fantastic fields and truly amazing stories of players turning just a few cents into huge payouts. Micro Millions 4 was by far the largest so far and the main event was huge, and as predicted the $1 million guarantee was blown away, as were most of the GTD's in the series. The main event eventual prize pool tallied up to a monstrous $1,361,620 with a staggering field of 68,081 players involved. At a $22 buy in, it was always going to be big, but this field took everyone by surprise, it did mean however that the top 9,090 players would beat the bubble to a cash prize. There could however be only one winner among all of these huge numbers and that honor fell to Ges26 from Belarus who pocketed a sweet $$140,468.56, and that came in a five way split. After 12 hours of exhausting play the winner was declared and that put an end to one wonderful series, a series that became the most popular of all time regarding number of entries! The word 'Micro' although relates to the buy in's of course, doesn't really fit anywhere else into the equation here does it? With over $9.5 million paid out it broke all sorts of records and we can't wait for the next installment. Player of the series was as usual a hard fought battle with FENOMENICO from Russia leading going into the final 3 days, only to see 'ESTRATEGA 18' from Uruguay storm over the finish line on the final day to take the Champion's Trophy along with a $5,200 SCOOP ticket. In fact this series leads nicely into the Pokerstars SCOOP 2013 and all second down to tenth place in the player of the series contest have received $1,050 tickets to the event, while 11 to 100th place were handed $109 tickets. Overall there was a 20% increase in the number of players who took part in this year's event a and the amount paid in total rose by over 15%.
