Barcelona Wins EPT Tournament of the Year

The European poker awards were held recently and the winner of the tournament of the year was the fantastic EPT Barcelona. It was the first event held in the nine tournament series during 2012. It was always in with a good shot at the award as it's a favorite destination for poker players, fans and commentators alike. The 2012 event was fortunate in that it teamed up with PokerStars regional poker tour of Spain, the Estrellas Poker Tour and that alone gave the EPT a massive boost. The event ran for a total of eleven days with 6,848 players taking part in the fifty scheduled events with a whopping combined prize pool of over 14 Million Euros. As well as new faces at Barcelona, there was also a new look for the EPT who gave their branding a major overhaul with sweet digital displays and a rather cool TV set. It proved to be a massive success and many players have said that it was simply one of the best poker experiences that they have had. The EPT continues into 2013 with many more events lined up for players from around the world to enjoy. The EPT Deauville in France kicks off the year at the end of January heading into the middle of February. In March it's off to London, then Berlin gets the EPT treatment in April, however the big one and the high rollers favorite comes in May. The EPT, PokerStars and the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort all team up to bring one serious poker event in Monaco. It's the main event of season nine, and always attracts the biggest players in the world and more than just a few celebrities tend to show their faces too. Last years main event winner Mohsin Chanaria claimed the title and €1,350,000 in prize money, heading back to the US with some win.
